UGC videos and TikTok Ads?
We handle both for Blendea.

How we launched TikTok Ads
for Blendea from scratch.

Blendea is a Czech brand of natural dietary supplements, that supports a healthy lifestyle and everyday well-being. The brand has been on the market since 2016, when it started with its green superfood blend Supergreens. Since then, it has expanded its portfolio to include dozens of products focused on areas such as immunity, digestion, energy, sleep, mental well-being, women’s health, beauty, and sports.

The start of our collaboration.

Pro českou značku Blendea , our task was to combine UGC production with performance advertising on TikTok. We started with a brand-new ad account with no previous history or data to rely on for optimization.
We first focused on product Supergreens. Rather than producing just a handful of individual creatives, we created a diverse range of UGC content, allowing us to test different creators, formats, and communication approaches and use real performance data to gradually identify the combinations that delivered the best results.

13 UGC creators. 106 videos.

To ensure we had enough content for testing, we needed to work not only with different scripts and formats, but also with a diverse mix of creators. For Supergreens, we therefore involved 13 UGC creators who produced a total of 106 videos.
When selecting creators, we deliberately worked with a diverse creator mix. We involved both women and men across different age groups, allowing us to test not only different scripts and formats, but also which types of creators could communicate the product most effectively.
We drew on our database of 100+ verified UGC creators from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Its diversity allows us to source creators from harder-to-reach groups, such as men or creators aged 30+, and build a creator mix tailored to each product and its target audience.

Creatives for the entire funnel.

From the very beginning, we developed each concept with its use in paid advertising in mind and divided the creatives according to different stages of the customer journey.
Awareness videos were designed to capture attention and introduce the product to new audiences.
Consideration creatives focused more on the product’s benefits, how it can be used, and specific situations in which it fits into customers’ lives.
Conversion videos were built around personal experience, recommendations, and other elements designed to move users closer to making a purchase.
This gave us a diverse range of creatives and communication approaches, to work with in TikTok Ads, which we could gradually test and evaluate based on real performance data.

We test UGC videos in TikTok Ads.

Our work didn’t end with content creation. We launched the individual creatives in TikTok Ads and began tracking which creators, formats, and communication approaches delivered the best results.
We started with a brand-new ad account with no previous history or data for the algorithm to use for optimization. From the outset, we therefore expected the first few weeks to be primarily about testing, collecting data , while and identifying combinations of creatives , while audiences, that we could subsequently scale.
From the start, we structured the ad account as a combination of performance and awareness campaigns. Approximately 70% of the budget was allocated to campaigns optimized for conversions , while 30% went to campaigns focused on video views. We primarily used conversion and consideration creatives in conversion campaigns, while awareness videos were initially tested for video views. Creatives that performed well were subsequently introduced into conversion campaigns as well.
The reported CTO and ROAS therefore reflect the performance of the entire ad account , including spend on campaigns focused on video views, rather than only the budget allocated directly to conversion campaigns.

The first month brought not only our first orderss, but more importantly the data we needed to further optimize the campaigns. We gradually identified the creatives and approaches that performed best and used these insights to build the next phase of the campaign.

The next phase.

As we gathered more data, we were able to gradually optimize the campaigns and allocate more budget to what had proven effective during the first few weeks. Over the following two months, we reduced CTO from the initial 43% to approximately 24% and stabilized it at this level.

What did creative testing reveal?

As we gathered more data, we were able to evaluate not only the overall campaign performance, but also the results of individual creators and different types of content.
As expected, conversion videos delivered the strongest results, particularly those built around personal experience, recommendations, or specific product benefits. However, some awareness creatives also performed surprisingly well, generating purchases even though they had originally been created for a different stage of the customer journey.
Testing confirmed that a creative’s performance is not necessarily determined by its original position in the funnel. That’s why we work with a wide range of formats and communication approaches, letting real performance data determine how each creative is used going forward.

Supergreens were just the beginning.

Successfully testing Supergreens also laid the foundation for the next stage of our collaboration. We are now applying the same approach to Supercoffee, creating new UGC content and preparing another round of testing in paid advertising.
At the same time, we are expanding our collaboration to include influencer marketing. By gradually connecting UGC, influencer marketing, and paid advertising into  one integrated system, we can test new products and creatives, evaluate their performance, and continue developing what works best.

What are UGC videos?

What are UGC sales video sets and how will they help deliver results?

A video set consists of a group of videos where each video shares the same core - the same body or content. However, each video varies in the "hook" (the beginning of the video) and the "CTA" (Call to Action).
The framework of a UGC sales video
Hooks serve as unique elements at the beginning of a video designed to grab viewers attention and captivate them. Each hook is crafted to appeal different segments of the audience or elicit various emotional reactions.
As for the CTA, each video contains different calls to action at the end. These may include direct prompts to make a purchase, share the content or any other desired interaction from viewers.
Overall, this strategy is used to test, which combinations of hooks and CTAs generate the best response from the audience, thereby optimizing the performance of the overall campaign.

Why test multiple sets of videos in advertising?

Different versions of videos may appeal to different segments of the target audience. What works for one group of customers may not necessarily be as effective for another group.
Additionally, testing different variants allows for identifying which elements of the video have the greatest impact on its success - what is the strongest strong hook and what CTA prompts the desired action from viewers. This way of testing allows for better understanding of audience preferences and optimizing future advertising strategies.
Overall, testing multiple video variants provides us with the data needed for continuous improvement and optimization of advertising strategies.

Tip for you

If a video performs a video in advertising (in terms of engagement, etc.), it's highly likely that it could have a chance to perform organically without paid advertising support.
Therefore, one of our strategies is to also publish these successful videos from advertising on the client's TikTok profile. This allows the video to spread organically on TikTok and helps the client with brand exposure and profile building.
We can also promote the same video through what's known as Spark Ads. In the end, the video circulates on TikTok both organically and through advertising.
Our presentation at the Czech On-line Expo 2024 on the topic „How to Generate Revenue from TikTok Using UGC Videos and Real-Time Optimization of Ads and Creative" received a rating 4.9 out of 5.
